Internet Dating Safety Tips
Online or Internet dating is fun and
convenient but one should be cautious of someone they hardly know early on. Here's some quick tips
to online dating safety.
- Don't give anyone online your real
email address, last name, phone number, address or place of work to
early on.
- Stop communicating with anyone who
tries to pressure you into giving this information.
- Protect yourself against unwanted
advances and use a gender-neutral nickname in chat rooms, discussion
groups and on message boards.
- Move slowly, get to know the other
person and build a trust with them.
- Request a photo, if someone gives you
an excuse they could be hiding something.
- Talking on the phone can reveal much
about some ones communication and social skills (give cell or use pay
phone until comfortable).
- Watch for red flags, sudden bursts of
anger, frustration, disrespect, controlling behavior or failing to give
you a direct answer to questions.
- Never feel pressured, always meet when
ready and in a public place like restaurant, cafe, coffee shop, etc.
- Avoid secluded area like camping,
hiking, biking and any remote area for first few dates or until trust is
built.
- If you have any gut feelings or
suspicions about your dates possible criminal history, I recommend using
a background check service called
Complete Detective It's very thorough and COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS!
